A number of weeks ago, we reported that an updated version of the HTC Butterfly may be released in 2013. However, the Taiwan based manufacturer is of course hitting the headlines due to its most recent flagship device, the HTC One.

Of course, the HTC One has been widely reported to have seen severe delays to its launch different due to component shortages, but the handset has now been released in most markets and has already begun to clock up some impressive sales figures. The success of this device is hoped to turn things around after a period of falling revenues and market share, largely due to HTC being unable to compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.

However, the HTC Butterfly has been one of the most successful devices for the company in recent months, although the device has not seen a widespread launch in Europe, it has remained a popular device in markets like Japan, Taiwan and several other Asian countries. The phone was also released in the US under a different name, the HTC Droid DNA. Visit our website for the latest HTC Butterfly news and HTC One deals.

Recently, Unwired View has reported on news that HTC may launch another version of the device, called the HTC Butterfly 2. The phone is likely to be another high end offering, and while it is unlikely to be as advanced as the HTC One flagship, should come with a decent spec list. The phone will likely include a full high definition display, although its size is currently unknown. It is also reported to have several software features showcased on the HTC One such as Blink Feed, as well as Boom Sound and an Ultrapixel camera.

It’s currently unknown whether the HTC Butterfly 2 will be released in Europe, but it should not be ruled out after it was recently revealed that the original version is soon to be launched in the Netherlands. However, this is likely measure taken after Nokia was granted an injunction against the HTC One in the country due to the phone using Nokia’s patented microphone technology without its permission on the flagship device.

More news about the HTC Butterfly 2 and its features, pricing and availability is likely be revealed over the coming weeks, so we will be sure to keep you informed when we hear of any developments.
